The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery

The Bone & Joint Journal (BJJ), formerly known as The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (British Volume), is published by The British Editorial Society of Bone and Joint Surgery, a registered charity (No. 209299).

BJJ is one of the most valued sources of information for orthopaedic surgeons and researchers globally, and has built a worldwide reputation for excellence since its inception in 1948. The Journal attracts the best clinical research and educational articles in orthopaedics and trauma internationally.

From 1948 through to December 2012, the journal shared the title ‘The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery’ with the American Volume of JBJS. The two volumes were editorially and financially independent. In September 2011, JBJS (Am) and JBJS (Br) reached a joint agreement on future, independent operations. This new agreement now gives each Journal more autonomy over its future direction and strategy. As a result of this, the British Volume of JBJS is now known as ‘The Bone & Joint Journal’ (BJJ) from 1st January 2013.

BJJ is the flagship publication under Bone & Joint Publishing, the imprint of The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery. Bone & Joint Publishing’s other journals include Bone & Joint 360, Bone & Joint Research (OA), EFORT Open Reviews (OA) and the Journal of Children’s Orthopaedics (OA).
