ACCUCOMS to Host BEERfest 2014 at Frankfurt Book Fair

19 August 2014 | Leiden, The Netherlands – ACCUCOMS, the leading provider of sales and marketing services to publishers is once again hosting the annual BEERfest event at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.

Beerfest 2014 frankfurt book fair

BEERfest is an event held at the ACCUCOMS exhibition stand as part of the fair. Each and every year, crowds gather to sample beers from across the world.

Egon Menardi, Sales Director at ACCUCOMS has been fundamental in organizing the event. In fact, he sources beers from specialty shops in Europe and drives in a van full of beers from The Netherlands to Germany for the event.

“BEERfest is a rewarding and special experience for publishers,” says Egon. “It’s enjoyable work sourcing the beers together with Edwin Hofman, Senior Account Manager, and making sure there is plenty of variety. The challenge is to make the beers fit into the fridges at the venue. Once they are on display on the tables and the first cap pops, all hell breaks loose!”

“The diversity of the beers is symbolic,” continues Egon, “Not only is our event about celebrating ACCUCOMS’ own successes and the successes of the publishers we represent. But we too acknowledge that every publisher is different and has different requirements in terms of marketing and selling their products – just like the diversity of the beers. And as a company we like to cater for that fact.”

Popke Huizinga, Director at IOS Press, a client of ACCUCOMS, attends the event annually and had this to say:

“At BEERfest the passages in front of the ACCUCOMS stand are packed full of people and in their hands a bottle of some foreign beer. This is an event where publishers can find a place – an oasis of beer – to unwind and relax after a hectic day of negotiations and presentations at the book fair. It is a most enjoyable experience.”

Pinar Erzin, Managing Director of ACCUCOMS is equally excited about the 2014 event:

“BEERfest is a lighthearted occasion that brings together publishers from all across the world under a single roof at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Our intention is to celebrate, have a good time and take pride in the publishing industry. There are many challenges publishers currently face, but there is also a reason to celebrate. It’s an exciting and important time to be in the industry.”

“This year’s BEERfest is especially noteworthy. We celebrate our company’s 10-year anniversary serving publishers, from global publishing houses to small and medium sized society publishers. A decade ago we represented a handful of publishers and today we represent over one hundred. Furthermore, I would like to give special thanks to Simon Inger and Chris Beckett, previous shareholders of the company for letting us inherit BEERfest from 2005 onwards,” says Pinar.

“In this industry it is important to understand the needs of the publishers we represent. At the same time we don’t want to fit into the proverbial mold. As a company we try and do things differently and this enables us to remain ahead of our game. BEERfest is just one way in which we demonstrate our flexibility, originality and innovation as a company.”

This year’s BEERfest takes place on Thursday the 9th October at 17:00 at the Frankfurt Book Fair (ACCUCOMS stand L89, hall 4.2). You can also read more about ACCUCOMS’ ten-year anniversary celebrations here
